Purpose (Why should traders care?):
Monetary base usually shows the immediate impact of monetary policy actions and is an inflation indicator. Nonetheless, the interpretation of this number can be tricky. An elevated currency level can either stimulate growth, creating an inflationary effect, or lead to a drop in demand, causing a lower currency valuation. Ultimately, this number should be taken into account with other indicators.
